Does anyone remember a pizzeria in Ozone Park or Richmond Hill, where they had two entrances into the restaurant, two stoops? I don't remember the street it was on but it was so good, better than New Park. They made the bottom crust well done and it had big bubbles on top. We used to call it "up the stoop". Great restaurant and very good pizza. Lots of HBers went there.

Like I said there were two stoops, one going into where you ordered things to go and the other leading into the diningroom.
What pizza that was! Better than New Park but for Sicilian pizza, there was none better than Pizza City. No one to this day can make pizza like that.

New Park Pizza is the best end of story. I miss their pizza so much. The pizza on SI does not even come close to tasting as good as New Park.

We just got back from vacation & spent a little time in HB. In my opionin, ( & that of my family's), New Park has the best pizza!! They were celebrating their 50th year anniversary in business & with the same Brick oven. There is no doubt they are the best. We ate at three different pizza places in the area & nothing came close. I was glad to see at least something has stayed the same!

I can see that there is a lot of difference in opinion concerning pizza, here in this forum, lol. To each his own. It really doesn't matter which place you like best. NY pizza is NY pizza. In no other state can they call it pizza. I've even had pizza in Chicago which some people think is better than NY. No one tops NY pizza. Now if you go upstate NY, you'll find the same problem you get outside of NY state. They have no idea how to make pizza! Floridians, forget about pizza, they don't make it in FL, lol. They take this very doughy dough, sometimes pre-baked, throw some heartburning sauce on it and then some stringy, hard to swallow, mozzarella (definitely not Polly-O) on top and into the oven until it's underdone and they call it pizza!

I have to disagree, In upstate NY (Oneonta) you can get great pizza, Ruffinos on main street followed by Sals, Both have been around forever & in South FLorida, The Pizza Center in Plantation, then Poppys Pizza South & finally At's a Pizza. Come down some time & give them a try. You will be surprised how close they come to NYC Pizza!!

I know where Oneonta is, used to live near Kingston. I never had good pizza there. I guess it's just a matter of taste. I have also lived in Tamarac, FL, not too far from Plantation and have been to Atsa Pizza, horrible! Upstate pizza may compare to Atza Pizza, in FL, but not to Howard Beach pizza.

There are (2) Ats a Pizza, the one that is good is off Las Olas Blvd. If you are ever in Plantation, go to Pizza Center, they will change your mind about So. FL pizza. Im not saying it is as good as New Park, But it is good. As for Upstate, if you try Ruffinos you will like it. (Again, not as good as New Park)but good.
