Who out there remembers the practices and games played on Saturday and Sunday at the park when there was only one field? Our Lady of Grace had leagues for all ages. Some tried out and made CYO teams according to age. Bantam, Major, Tyro etc. I remember going to the President of Queens Borough with Kevin Slatery his dad and Mr. O’Neil with a petition to have the borough build the fields that many of us grew up playing on. Back then it was so much fun just to play the game. I can't ever remember and umpire being criticized or parents out of control. Anyone out there get on the site and tell about some of your games. Another topic could be the basketball games played back then or the swimming meets at John Adams High School in the dead winter coming home freezing after swimming for hours in the pool.
