I'm down in Florida also. I have to agree with you.The pizza sux.I've found maybe 2 or 3 pizza places that are ok down here.
I'm just wondering how people down here can classify Pizza Hut,Dominoes, and Papa Johns as good pizza.

I remember the Behrens family. Mr. Behrens lived next door on Russell St. He taught me how to swim in the "little pool" between our houses. Remember the Doxsey family?

Not only bad pizza but Florida does not have a decent bakery. To get a cheese cake or a birthday cake you must shop in the supermarkets. Give me the Sugar Bun anytime. The bread and rolls here in Florida leave much to be desired, too.

i've been in florida for 6 years now, since I retired, and we love it. I followed my sons who were already here and my daughter came down shortly after. if you love the water and i do you have to love florida. Pizza, try making your own. can't buy that or bagels here.

I'll keep trying until I get it right. What was the name of your father's pizza place? How long ago was he on xBay Blvd? If I'm ever in Ft. Lauderdale I'll certainly look him up. I'm in Daytona Beach.

Hi Dave,
If your Mom was the Chris I remember, she was a friend of my Aunt Arline's. I used to see her at my aunt's beauty shop all the time on Liberty Ave. I think she lived in Hamilton. I was a shampoo girl at the time part time while attending Adams. (I graduated in '72. Used to live on Bridge St. Mom was Gloria. Stepfather was Bill Schmidt. Sisters Barbara and Karen. Brothers Robert and Alan. Best regards, arlene

I moved from HB to WPalm Bch, Florida in '90, after my sister was kidnapped by her ex..Otherwise I would've stayed a lil' longer. But after 8yrs in S.Florida I left it for the real south. The only place I've been to with better pizza than HB is Napoli,Italy!

I moved from HB a long time ago, but still it was a great place to grow up in the old days. I send my kids there for pizza if they're heading anywhere near there - they called me from New Park astonished - even if they're not quite always up to speed it's still better than almost anywhere else. Anyways, we live in Sebastian now... nice little town - though it's growing too fast for me. And you guys are right, there's not much pizza here - although for my money Guiseppis' on 512 in Sebastian comes as close as we're going to get.

There are two decent places in Boca Raton - Ruby's in Oak Plaza across from FAU and Jerry's which is on Boca Raton Blvd next to the Swifty.

It's nice to remember the great places to get Pizza or Italian in HB is a little restaurant on Crossbay before the wooden bridge (before it fell down) and on the same side, great baked clams, Pop's Pizza next to the bowling alley on Crossbay was "THE BEST", 2nd was of course PIZZA CITY. Here in FL I have found only great tasting pizza like Pop's that is located in the (it's gonna sound cheesy but...) Festival Flea Market. It's expensive but worth it. Thin crispy and just the right amount of cheese, very little oregano....just the way I like it. Well, heading to get a slice...this is Idee (do u know me?)

I moved out to a small town in the midwest this summer, and the only place you can get pizza here is Pizza Hut, or at the gas station! There are no pizza places here at all, and when you want pizza, you have to get a whole pie! No slices here. What I would do to have a few slices of New Park, or a few Sicilian slices from Gino's!

John Giamundo, moved to Ft. Lauderdale in 1989. Still miss ol' HB and go there at least once a year to visit my parents and family. I get great pizza here at Vito's Gormet Pizza on Federal Highway, but admittedly nothing beats New Park. I remember when it was 15 cents a slice!!!
