A Burger King, McDonald's, Radio Shack, Dunkin' Donuts etc, was in Guatemala a couple years ago and saw all these places from the balcony of my room.

I remember $.15 slices at New Park, the bowling alley, the OLG bazaar, Pizza Inn, drag racing, people crabbing off the Cross Bay bridge with long poles and flashlights etc.

Funny, the web site seems to deal with the boulevard as if it was an integral part of Howard Beach, but when I read about the black kids getting assaulted in HB back in the 1980's, one of my first thoughts was that it didn't really take place in HB, but on Cross Bay, similarly when we went to the bowling alley or New Park, we used to say that we were going over to Cross Bay, they weren't a true part of the Beach since they were accessible to people without their having to turn onto 157 St and cross the mystical boundary that separated HB from the rest of the world.
