Does anyone remember the restaurant named Weiss just across the Crossbay bridge, in Broad Channel? Also years ago there used to be a Chinese restaurant near there, on the opposite side of Weiss' called Sun Toy. They used to have great Chicken Chow Mein sandwiches on a hamburger bun. Ate at both these places many times as a young child, with my parents. Weiss had great frozen custard. It was sort of like a Nathan's. They had everything.

I remember Weiss's restaurant. There was a yacht club that my grand father founded behind Weiss's called The Broad Channel Yacht Club. There used to be a Merri Go Round across the street. I recently met someone here in Atlanta who used to go to Weiss's. He said his sister went back there with her mother after not having been there for 25 years. There was an old guy there who always opened the clams at the clam bar. This guy was there when they were kids and he was still there when she went back. While he's opening her clams for her he looks up at her and asks " didn't you used to come in here with your brother? I guess clams are good for your memory. I used to eat at Weiss's and go fishing on the old broad channel bridge. Weiss's used to be a late night hang out for some old time celebrities. Walter Winchell and Kate Smith were amongst the crowd that used to hang out there.
