This folder has been quiet for a long while. So to pick up the pace, lets see how many stores and business can you name from the past along Cross Bay Blvd.
I'll start with this small list... please feel free to add more.
King George Coffee Shop
Stride Rite Shoes
Sans Egal Beauty Parlor
Chase Manhattan Bank
Jet Hamburgers
Big Bow Wow
Pizza City
Joe's Candy Store
Vicki Lanes womens apparel
House of Wong
Feel free to add to the list!

How many of you recall MEATS N' TREATS. Also before the Honda dealership was in business there was a disco called "Mr. Collosis" (spelling may be off)
In addition:
-Rockwood Hair Stylist
-The Delicatessen (adjacent to Rockwood
Hair Stylist)
- Chip n' Dales ( Later known as CBS
Saloon)

Shaina:
Meats-n-Treats was on the corner of 156 and Cross Bay.....Later it was occupied by a relocated Home Federal savings bank which was originally squeezed in a small storefront adjacent to the Sunoco Gas Station and Duvalls Bakery one block down at 157th Ave. Blockbuster video sits there now.
How about:
Cross Bay Bowling Lanes
A&P
Glicks Kosher Deli
Waldbaums (at the old site on Cross Bay)
Texaco gas station where Ragtime Deli is now.

Remember Bond Motors.
An Oldsmobile dealership?
It was used as a location in the 1984 movie, "The Flamingo Kid" with Matt Damon.

I do remember the Bond Oldsmobile Dealership and I remember the movie "Flamingo Kid". I had no idea a scene was filmed there. Cross bay Blvd used to have several car dealerships... I think they are all gone now...
Honda
Oldsmobile
Buick (up by Pitkin Ave)
Pontiac (across from Buick, by Pitkin Ave)

Acrossed the street from Kiddieland was a really old bar called Andy's Pavillion. I t was on Hawtree creek right next to the wooden bridge.
There was a vacant lot near the batting cages and the trampolines. They used to have carnivals in that lot.

Just thought of a few more stores. The original "Lonnie's". (great clothing store when we were teenagers)
I also recall a club/bar down the blvd. before the bridge called "The Little Cricket" in the late 70's. I believe it burned down. (????)

i think even before the bowling alley there was a movie theatre. of course the Bow Wow was the neighborhood favorite. also there was Rookie's sports bar, and Carousel Delites. And the former RomaView was Tony Roma's ribs. You can't forget that.

There was captain Bligh's Wine and Cheese cafe, down the block from the Bow Wow. My cousin Ralph owned both places. It was a great hang out while it lasted.

Yes, the Little Cricket did burn down. I remember well because my band was playing there upstairs in the lounge. One night we were fired and told to get our stuff out of there. Lucky for us, it burned down that night.

Before the Honda dealership was there I believe it was called "Mystic Colossus" and before that, "Swizzle Stix"? The building was painted in BOLD vertical stripes. What about "MY Hero", the sandwich shop, owned by Barry Hirschberg who was a guitarist for "The Crickets" after Buddy Holley was gone. Best Heros on the planet. Anyone remember "Jay's Steak Pub" between "Lynn's Marina" and "Lenny's Pizza" , right opposite the old Ford dealership next to the P.O.? Remember all the Bikers that used to hang out at "Pizza City"? Remember what "Lenny's Clam Bar " used to be? Ans: Ernie's bar. And next to that was the carpet shop and a small custom motorcycle shop. Can't remember thier names though. Gabe DiTillio owned the "Kiddie Land" amusement park. That was my first place of employment. (Gabe shorted our pay envel

I used to work at Jimmy's Clam Bar on the corner diagonally across Cross Bay from Pizza City, Vinny Ianacco's Dad owned the place, Cathy Shea's stepfather worked there also.
Does any one remember the OLG bazaars on Cross Bay and the motorcycle stunt men who used to ride in opposite circles in a globe made of heavy gauge steel mesh?
