Recently the media was talking about building a cultural center near ground zero by muslims, and how other people react towards it. is it right or wrong , and how we have to deal with it?

The animosity, distrust & outright dislike the vast majority of the American citizenry have for anything Islamic should be a major concern to the Muslim community.  For them to not seize upon the opportunity to turn public opinion around and silence their critics by announcing that in the interest of harmony & good will, they have decided to waive their legal right to build a center at Ground Zero is a glaring example of the disdain with which they regard the non-Muslim world.

If Muslims had any sense of respect or decency, they'd move the site of the mosque.   Since 9/11/01, they have made virtually no attempt to reconcile or meet the non-Muslim world half way.   On that fateful day, as Americans were trapped in the towers facing death, Muslims were laughing, dancing and cheering - both in the Mideast and in America.   It is not Americans who must make the concession, it is Muslims.   They need to face the fact that there are Muslim extremists, that their faith is perceived as militant, and that they need to come out of the sixteenth century by treating their women with respect, not killing non-Muslims and gays, and adapting to life in the modern world.

Muslims need to start following American customs.  Caught sight of a woman with a baby stroller walking at me out of the corner of my eye while shopping, I moved to my left to get out of her way and some pathetic little chump who was two feet ahead of her on her right kept walking straight at me since he wan't going to move behind or in front of his wife.  I moved rather than start an altercation that might trickle down to his abusing her, but I am curious as to what people feel I should have done if my wife had been on my left and he'd tried to walk thorugh her?
